Stefan Demos, a 5’10" 195 lb kicker, has signed with the Danger after four years at Northwestern University.
Originally from Scottsdale, Arizona (Horizon High School), Demos was the starting place-kicker for the Wildcats and an Academic All-Big Ten. During his senior season (2010), he was named a preseason first-team All-Big Ten selection by Sporting News and Phil Steele’s, and a second-team selection by Athlon Sports. Demos finished his career ranked fifth on NU’s all-time list for career FG made (34), and was named to 2010 Lou Groza Award watch list. He also handled all of NU's kickoff duties (12 touchbacks) and helped the kickoff team rank among the nation's best in kickoff return yardage defense. Demos converted eight of his final 10 FG attempts to end the season and was seventh among Big Ten kickers in scoring (6.3 ppg) and ninth in field goal percentage at 69.6 percent (16-of-23). He was rated 14 out of 45 kickers coming out in the Draft.
In his career at Northwestern, Demos handled NU’s place-kicking duties for two seasons (2009-10) and NU’s punting duties for three seasons (2007-09). He played in a school-record 51 games without missing a single game due to injury. He closed his career with 34 made field goals (fifth all-time at NU) and 170 points (ninth all-time at NU and fourth all-time at NU among kickers) and was named to National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society.
Head Coach Mike Davis comments, "Demos will be a real asset to the Danger. Good kickers are hard to come by in this league. We are thrilled to have him." ;
The Danger also announce the return of linebacker Walner Leandre, who was named Second Team All-IFL: Defense for 2011. "Having Walner back only makes us better as a team. The kid is hard-nosed and has a talent for being around the ball all the time," Coach Davis said.
