Danger start signing for 2016 — Sign two former Huskers

The Nebraska Danger Indoor Professional Football Team has begun its recruiting for the 2016 season. Danger Head Coach Mike Davis is pleased to announce that ten players — including former Nebraska Cornhuskers Brion Carnes and Corey Cooper — have signed with the Danger for the 2016 season.

"This is a great group of players that we have signed to build our team around for 2016," Davis said. "We are excited about this group and we'll continue to go out and work to get players that will help us build a championship team."

Carnes signed with the Danger with two games to go in the 2015 regular season as a backup for starting quarterback Jameel Sewell. He led the team in the final regular season game against the Billings Wolves, completing 15 of 28 passes for 178 and 5 touchdowns in the 60-50 Danger loss.

Another late season pickup, Thomas Mayo was a favorite target at wide receiver for Carnes. Mayo led all Danger receivers in the final regular season game against the Wolves with 6 receptions for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

A name that many Danger fans will likely recognize is Corey Cooper, an All-Big Ten selection for the Huskers at safety. Cooper made 29 career starts for Nebraska, helping the Nebraska defense rank among the nation's best in opponent completion percentage, pass efficiency defense and third-down defense.

"We still have some spots to fill in," Davis said, "but I like our progress so far this season. We are already going to have some tough competitions in pre-season camp. We will see who steps up to earn a spot on the final roster."

The Danger, three time Intense Conference Champions, will begin the 2016 season in February with a schedule to be announced later this fall.
