Danger to host Storm in United Bowl rematch

The Nebraska Danger are preparing for a rematch from last season's United Bowl championship game against the Sioux Falls Storm this Saturday at the Heartland Events Center. Kickoff is set for 7PM. The Danger fell at Cedar Rapids last week against the Titans, 51-50.
Defenses controlled most of the first half for both teams last Saturday. The Danger and Titans were tied at 6 with less than four minutes left before halftime when offenses started trading quick scoring drives, resulting in 12 lead changes in the game. The Danger Offense was able to mount an 11 play drive in the fourth quarter, taking over 8 minutes off the clock, but were unable to put any points on the board as a 15 yard field goal attempt sailed wide, leaving the Danger behind 51-50 with less than a minute left to play. Cedar Rapids was able to run out the clock to seal a victory.
"We had our opportunities," Danger head coach Mike Davis said. "Hats off to them. We should have won, but unfortunately we didn't make plays and they did."
Saturday's matchup against the Storm will have a lot of different faces compared to last season's United Bowl. The Danger only return 5 players from the championship game, while the Storm return 10 players from their 25-man roster. The Danger have been short-handed in recent weeks with different players being unavailable due to CFL tryouts and other personal reasons.
"There are a lot of new faces this year, but I think this is one of the best units we have ever had. We have a ton of speed on defense and we finally have everyone back this week from tryouts and from being gone for personal reasons," Davis said. "I'm excited to see what we can do with our full roster intact. It should be a really good game."
The Storm were able to take sole possession of first place in the United Conference standings last week, shutting down the high-powered Wichita Falls Nighthawks 71-44. Quarterback Lorenzo Brown had 18 completions on 25 pass attempts for 215 yards and eight touchdowns. Brown connected with receiver Caleb Holley five times for five touchdowns and Korey Williams for a pair of touchdowns and 119 yards.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm on Saturday night at the Heartland Events Center. Doors open at 6:00 with pre-game activities beginning at 6:30.
