Danger prepare for high-powered Iowa Barnstormers offense

The Iowa Barnstormers will travel to Grand Island this Friday for a re-match with Nebraska. The Danger were able to pull out a come-from-behind victory over the Barnstormers on April 9 in Des Moines, 46-43. Kickoff Friday night is set for 7 pm at the Heartland Events Center.
The last time these two teams met, the Danger were without seven starters, as a number of players were attending CFL tryouts. The Danger were able to put points on the board first, but Iowa jumped out to a 21-7 lead at halftime. Quarterback Ben Anderson, filling in for Jameel Sewell, was able to settle in during the second half, throwing for four touchdown passes and rushing for another score. Anderson's touchdown run turned out to be the game-winning score, as the Danger stole the lead for a final time with 3:36 left to play.
"Last time we played Iowa we had to put some guys in spots that they weren't really used to," Head Coach Mike Davis said. "This time we should be able to get back to playing our style of football. Our guys need to go out and do their job and execute our plan for us to get a win."
Iowa will bring a dynamic receiving corps to Grand Island this Friday. Last time these two teams met, Lemans Casimier and Lucas Hefty were able to put up 81 and 70 receiving yards respectively to go along with two touchdowns apiece. Hefty has been filling in at running back the past two weeks, rushing for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns over those two games. The Barnstormers have also acquired All-IFL receiver Bryan Pray from the Green Bay Blizzard. Pray pulled in six passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns last week against the Blizzard.
The Barnstormers lost a heartbreaker last Saturday in Green Bay, 73-72. Iowa led for most of the game, but Green Bay grabbed a 2-yard touchdown pass as time expired to pull within one point of tying the game. The Blizzard then decided to attempt a 2-point conversion with no time on the clock to secure the win. Using the same play that scored the last touchdown, Green Bay was able to achieve the same result, as the 2-point conversion was successful and gave the Blizzard a win.
"Iowa's offense is very good. Our defense is going to have to be ready to play and we need to force some stops," Davis said. The Barnstormers currently lead the IFL in total yards per game and passing yards per game.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm on Friday night at the Heartland Events Center. Doors open at 6:00 with pre-game activities beginning at 6:30.
