Return Specialist Korey Ringer Tabbed Danger Player of the Week

Korey Ringer doesn’t show up on the end of the game stat sheet often for his given position of running back. At 5’10” and 205 pounds, however, the Nebraska Danger have seen him pay off in a big way as a return specialist.
Ringer showcased his skills yet again Saturday night against Sioux Falls. He returned six kicks in the game, averaging an astonishing 21.2 yards per return, totaling 127 yards in the narrow 45-37 loss.
The IFL has since been put on notice, as this was far from Ringer’s first standout game fielding kickoffs. In the team’s previous game against Iowa, Ringer pulled in four kickoffs – again averaging more than 21 yards per return, including one that he took back to the house for a 48-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Even a week further back against Arizona, Ringer topped the 200 yard mark in a total of 10 returns, coming up just short of a 21-yard average per return. While Ringer has been scorching the field as a return specialist, he hasn’t seen a lot of time in the Danger backfield as he fights for time with starting running back Angelo Pease.
However, Ringer might not need the reps in the backfield considering his 479 total return yards in just four games played has paced the Danger to a league-leading 17.4-yard average with at least 35 kick returns on the year.
Ringer and the Danger return to action Saturday, April 14 as they hit the road to take on the Iowa Barnstormers. Kickoff is set in Des Moines for 7:05 p.m.
